The Nike.net inventory system of the Nike brand, whereby the brand sells the stock to the stores and companies, will stop on 1 July 2019.
From now on all orders with the brand will be processed by retailers via a pre-order that is made about 7 months in advance. In the past, retailers could also order extra from Nike's stock in addition to pre-orders. As of July 1, 2019, Nike.net will probably be out for all Dutch customers and otherwise a part of it. It is also possible that it first stop in the entire Benelux and later in other countries.
What does this mean for you as a customer?
It is expected that fewer sales will be held, because offers were often offered via Nike.net to retailers who were sometimes cheaper than the original purchase price.
It also means that a seller can no longer buy the good Nike models, so there will be less supply of good models. It is often unclear 7 months in advance in the pre-orders whether a certain model is a good color or model. From now on retailers have to estimate better and that is often very difficult.
